Singapore: A Malaysian from India on Wednesday was sentenced to seven months and three weeks in prison for terrorizing his girlfriend by beating him, destroying his phone after swallowing a SIM card, tore his passport and strangling him with his hand.
Paartiban Maniam’s sentence was suspended until March 12 when he was arrested and returned, today’s newspaper reported.
The 30-year-old Malaysian player pleaded guilty to two indictments each of the criminal intimidation, committing a crime and causing pain in his partner.
He was drunk on all these occasions.
District judge James Elisha Lee considered six other similar accusations for the purpose of punishment.
The court heard that Paartiban was dating his 38 -year -old colleague for about two to three years. They lived with his uncle in Singapore from December last year to January 23, when he first attacked him.
He ended the relationship around March early.
Paartiban goes to drink -Dissum with his friends on January 23 before disagreeing with victims by telephone. When he got home, he accused him of another man and verbally abused him.
When his uncle took them to an empty deck from the housing block where he lived to solve the problem, Paartiban slapped and punched his girlfriend. Older men must tell him to stop.
Back at the uncle’s flat, Paartiban put a kitchen knife near his girlfriend’s neck, threatening to kill him. He then crashed into his head with a wooden kitchen towel.
Upset, he took the holder from him and hit him too.
His uncle finally called the police.
Paartiban was arrested before being released with police guarantees.
About a month later, on February 28, Paartiban had moved from flat but returned.
When his girlfriend refused to let him enter, he released the metal gate on the main door by pulling him away from the wall by force. He then entered the flat, grabbed his phone and punched his face.
During their argument, he pointed the fruit knife at his chest and said in Tamil that he would “definitely kill” him.
He then directed the scissors to his stomach area, once again threatening to kill him. He managed to calm him down and he put the scissors before punching his shoulder.
Afraid of what he was going to do, he fulfilled his instructions to package his goods and go with him.
During this time, he continued to shout at him, punch his shoulder again, then tore up Malaysian passports, according to today’s report.
After reaching the ground floor of the block, he cooked reasons, walked away and asked the person who passed to call the police for him.
Paartiban was arrested and released with a guarantee of the police once again.
On March 11, he asked him to return his clothes to him.
He took him to a multi -storey parking lot and said that he wanted to kill him that same day.
He refused to take the taxi he had, so he took him to the nearest bench.
When he sat on the bench, he lured the metal bottle cap from his pocket, bitting him to sharpen it, and put it on his neck.
He then checked his phone, saying that he had called another man the previous day, swallowed his SIM card and destroyed the phone to the bench several times before pocketing him. He also swung a bottle of alcohol towards his head but was answered.
He continued to drink alcoholic drinks and destroy the bottle before putting it near his neck. He also said that he would kill him on the same day before suicide.
He then took a few fragments from the bottle and asked him to follow him.
When he drank water, he put his arm around his neck and strangled him with his hand. A police patrol car then passed them, pushed him to leave.
He then approached the police to get help.
The prosecution asked for a seven to 10 months in prison for Paartiban.
For criminal intimidation, he can be jailed for up to two years or fined, or both.
Because voluntarily causes pain, he can be jailed for up to three years or fined up to SGD5,000, or both. And because of damage, he can be jailed for up to two years or fined, or both.
