Recently, it had been reported that Kareena Kapoor Khan is charging INR 12 crore for enjoying the role of Sita in Alaukik Desai’s movie. While Kapoor Khan maintained her silence over the difficulty , during a recent interview to The Guardian, the actor spoke about pay disparity between male and feminine actors within the industry.
While the interviewer neither confirms nor dismisses the rumour about Kapoor Khan charging INR 12 crore, they did ask the actor’s opinion on the prevailing pay disparity in Bollywood. Kapoor Khan said, “Just a couple of years ago, nobody would mention a person or woman actually getting equal pay during a movie. Now there are tons folks being very vocal about it.” She also added, “I make it quite clear what i would like and that i think that respect should tend . It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. and that i think things are quite changing.”
In the past, Kapoor’s contemporaries like Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja have spoken up about being paid but their male co-actors. Recently, there have been reports that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had dropped Deepika Padukone from his upcoming movie because the actor charged the maximum amount as Ranveer Singh.During the interview, Kapoor Khan also talked about how people had warned her against marrying Saif Ali Khan, as producers don’t work with married actresses. She said, “When I married Saif, numerous people told me that my career would be over because no producer wants to figure with a married actress.” Kapoor Khan also added, “At that point , no other Bollywood actress got married then continued to figure
. But I just thought: OK, well, if it does end my career, then that’s fine, that’s my destiny. I’m not getting to not marry the person who i really like .”Kapoor Khan and her family faced tons of trolling once they named their first child Taimur Ali Khan. When it had been revealed that their second child is known as Jehangir Ali Khan, the trolls unleashed their wrath once more . Speaking about it, Kapoor Khan said, “Honestly, these are names that we just liked; it’s nothing else. they’re beautiful names and they’re beautiful boys. It’s unfathomable why somebody would troll children. I feel terrible about it, but I even have to only focus and obtain through it. I can’t be watching my life through the trolls.”
