Booster dose not enough? Omicron sparks debate around 4th shot of vaccine

Covid-19 global infection reached a record high of the last week, according to Reuters, because the omicron variant ran out of control and the government tried to contain its spread without paralyzing the fragile economy. Nearly 900,000 cases are detected on average every day between 22 and December 28.

Omicron variants from Coronavirus have placed additional pressure on the health care system throughout the world, because doctors must deal with increasing mutations and higher transmission. That is why, there is a debate that occurred around the fourth shot from the Coronavirus vaccine (Covid-19).

Yes, you read right. Fourth shot – Basically the second amplifier dose. Israel led the effort in this direction, approved a study on Monday to whether the second round Booster would help compete with the omicron variant that spread quickly.

This study was conducted in a hospital in Israel where the health worker test group was given a fourth covid-19 vaccine dose.

The results of the trial, the possibility of being watched internationally internationally, will be submitted to the Israeli Ministry of Health in about two weeks, said Sheba Medical Center spokesman near Tel Aviv.

Worried about the risk of a sudden surge in hospitalization in Israel because of the spread of Omicron, the ministry expert panel last week recommended to offer fourth Jab to medical workers and with a compromised immune system.

Medical professionals talk about managing the fourth Covid-19 shots to people to control the deployment of variants which are believed to be more resistant to many vaccines.

A few weeks ago, the Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said that people might need a fourth Covid-19 shot faster than expected because of the Omicron variant. The statement came a few days after Pfizer and Biontech released the results of a study that showed that the third shot of this vaccine was effective against Omicron, but the two-dose regime saw its ability to protect significantly mutated virus decreases.

Those who have received both doses, however, are prevented from getting seriously ill.

German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach was also preferred to provide fourth shots to maintain the protection of the Omicron variant.

But in the United States, the worst affected state, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Allergy Institute and infectious diseases, said that it was too early to discuss the potential for the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

In a recent radio interview with WCBS NewsRadio 880, Dr. Fauci said that “too preterm” to talk about the fourth dose. He said that if protection is far more durable than a group of two doses, non-boosted, “we can do a significant period of time without requiring a fourth dose”.

Global Covid-19 infection reached a record high of the last seven days, according to the Reuters news agency, because the omicron variant raced out of control and the government tried to contain its spread without paralyzing the fragile economy. Nearly 900,000 cases are detected on average every day around the world between 22 and December 28, Reuters reported.
