Shershaah Teaser: Sidharth Malhotra plays Captain Vikram Batra in the drama producer Karan Johar, who will collide with Ajay Devnan’s Bhuj: India’s pride on independence day.
Actor Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani joined the producer Karan Johar in launching the teaser for their upcoming war drama Shersaah, which will be released at Amazon Prime Video on August 12. This film will collide (digitally) with other war drama, Ajay Devnan’s. Bhuj: Pride of India, which will debut at Disney + Hotstar on August 13.
Ajay and Karan are famous involved in the Box Office Clash in 2016, when their film Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, released on the same day.
One-half minute teaser gave the film plot context, which focused on Captain Vikram Batra, who died in battle during the Cargil War. The teaser, arranged to inspirational scores, told the viewers that the cargil war was ‘the first Indian television war’, which made people across the country glued on their TV.
We are shown intercut news footage with scenes from the film. We also shown the original Batra Vikram recording, when he talked about his nickname – Shershaah – and his company spell, ‘Yeh Dil Maange more (the heart wants more)’. Teaser ended with a shot by Sidharth Malhotra, in battle as captain Batra.
“The courage of the courage and courage of ordinary human. Very respectable, happy & eager to present #shershaahonprime, releasing on August 12,” wrote Karan Johar in a tweet sharing the teaser.
Shershaah was originally scheduled for the release of July 2020, which was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. Kiara Advani played the role of Captain Vikram Fiance Dample Cheema. The film was directed by Vishnu Varadhan.
In 2020, Karan produced Gunjan Saxena: The Cargil Girl, another film that dramatizes the game of the Cargil War, this time from the perspective of one of the first Indian female fighter pilots, which Janhvi Kapoor played. The film was released on Netflix, and triggered controversy around its factual accuracy, which was challenged by other pilots deployed at that time.
