Canberra: Tuvalu Foreign Minister has given a speech to the United Nations Climate Conference at Glasgow to stand the knee-deep-searer to show how the Nation Pacific Guide is low at the front line of climate change.
Simon Kofe’s image stands in a suit and tie on the podium established in the sea, with the legs of the trousers rolled, has been widely distributed on social media, attracting attention to Tuvalu struggle against sea level increases.
“This statement paced COP26 settings with the real life situation faced in Tuvalu because of the effects of climate change and sea level rise and highlighting Tuvalu thick action taking to overcome very urgent problems of climate change,” Kofe said the video message to the conference.
The video was shot by the TVBC public announcer at Ujung Fongafale, the main island of the capital Funafuti, a government official said.
It is scheduled to be displayed on the climate summit on Tuesday and comes as a regional leader to encourage more aggressive actions to limit the effects of climate change.
But the Pacific Island leaders have demanded immediate action, showing that the survival of their low countries lay at stake.
