Travel prohibitions and other snap defenses are appointed with countries against Omicron, the new Covid-19 variant, is the purchase time for scientists to answer key questions that can prevent other death waves.
Laboratories in Europe, the US and Africa are preparing for tests to see how new variants tend to behave in people who have been vaccinated or infected in advance. Real-world research will also be important, because health authorities monitor the plague in South Africa carefully to find out how much more transmitting the new variant as deployment and whether it is more dangerous or deadly.
Questions will take weeks to answer, scientists and policy makers say Friday.
